Description:
Expression of Interest are invited for Site Selection for Geothermal District Heating and Pre-Feasibility Studies for Two Pilot Projects. The key objectives of this assignment are two-fold: 1. Gather data and select at least two municipalities/cities to be evaluated if geothermal district heating system is viable. The selection criteria shall be agreed upon with the World Bank and relevant government counterparts (e.g., MENR and MoEUCC) [Task1] 2. Once Task 2 has been completed, prepare pre-feasibility studies for two selected municipalities. The pre-feasibility studies should broadly include the following items: project concept and background, market concept and analysis, geothermal resource assessment and field development plan, location and site, environmental and social safeguards, engineering and technology, project execution plan and schedule, financial analysis and investment appraisal, and recommendations. [Task 2] The assignment is expected to take approximately eight months to complete. A team of international and local experts will be required. The following key staff are likely to be required: (i) geoscientist with at least ten years of experience in exploration and development of low to medium enthalpy geothermal resources; (ii) mechanical engineer with extensive technical experience in assessing the production potential of low and medium enthalpy geothermal resources for district heating; (iii) an environmental engineer with extensive experience in environmental impact assessment and air quality issues; (iv) an energy economist with relevant expertise in financial and economic feasibility assessments of direct uses of direct uses, particularly district heating; and a (v) local geothermal expert with relevant experience in geoscience or engineering.
